PRP is short for Platelet Rich Plasma. Our Doctor or Nurse will collect a small sample of your blood as you would normally conduct when you have your routine blood test at your doctor’s surgery. The blood is collected and placed in a special container. The container is then placed in a machine called a centrifuge where your blood is spun for approximately 15 minutes so it can separate your blood components. This is when we apply a numbing agent to your scalp for hair treatment. We commence stimulating the area initially with a small hand held derma pen or derma roller that consists of many micro fine small needles that we use. This procedure makes micro wounds in the scalp that tricks the body by thinking that there is an injury in that location, so the PRP that will be injected directly in that area will begin to do its job immediately.
The Platelet Rich Plasma has now been separated from your normal whole blood. The PRP that contains abundant growth factors and stem cells is now ready to be injected to the scalp. We use the PRP which normally appears like a gold yellow clear fluid as per picture on the left-side of the page. The PRP is applied by a micro needle usually with a meso injection gun as per picture below, the process is virtually painless.
Immediately after the treatment the highly concentrated PRP that was injected in many different areas of the scalp for hair treatment begins to work to bring vital nutrients to that area, kick starting the existing cells to do their job.
